I came to Prof. Debi for a consultation — on crutches, unable to put weight on my leg. I met an angel in human form. He looked at my X-ray and said with full confidence: “Ilan Mordechai, don’t worry. You’ll have a great knee and be back to a full life very soon.” One month after the surgery, I was back at work. And I’m not a desk worker — I’m a plumbing contractor. Thank you, Prof. Ronen Debi, for giving me my life back.

Dr. Bar Ziv performed my hip replacement surgery. He was highly professional and explained every step of the procedure and recovery in detail. His empathy truly calmed me, and the professionalism — both his and his team’s — played a key role in the success of the surgery and rehabilitation. Dr. Bar Ziv is not only empathetic and patient — he’s also a top-level expert.

I was truly impressed by the care and kindness shown by the doctor Vogel and the entire team at Assuta — from the admissions process, the nurses, the anesthesiologist, and especially the surgeon, to the staff in the recovery room and later in the ward. Heartfelt thanks for the warm, personal, and dedicated care!

I had hip replacement surgery on April 15, 2025, with Dr. Bender. I am thrilled one week after the operation. He solved the problem after many years of pain. I can already walk without crutches, and use a cane only outdoors. Rehabilitation is progressing rapidly. I thank the entire clinic staff. Respectfully, Lyubov

An incredibly professional doctor Debi who gave me a deep sense of confidence. Kind, respectful, and at the same time explained everything thoroughly — the surgical plan and even the pain I might expect — which helped me stay calm going into surgery. He answered every question, fear, or concern in real time, both before and after the procedure. Without a doubt, choosing him for my knee replacement was the best decision I made. Special thanks to Dalia, his right hand, who responded to every call, message, or request, and to Shira who took care of all the admin. A truly kind and professional team that surrounded me with support throughout recovery. Thank you for everything.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much does it cost? The cost depends on the type of surgery, the implant selected, and the specifics of your case. Before your trip, you can upload medical documents through the website. This allows the surgeon to review your case in advance. If surgery is recommended, you’ll come for an in-person consultation. At that appointment, you’ll go over the details with the surgeon — the type of implant, the surgical approach, and any additional tests that may be needed. After that, a medical treatment plan is created, and the clinic provides the final pricing. To give you a general idea, here are two examples: Hip replacement: • Consultation — £320 • Surgery, implant, pathology, and up to 4 days in hospital — £13 200 • Surgeon’s fee — £4 500 Estimated total: ~£18 020 Knee replacement: Consultation — £320 Surgery, implant, and up to 4 days in hospital — £13 000 Surgeon’s fee — £4 500 Estimated total: ~£17 820 Shoulder replacement: Consultation — £320 Surgery and up to 4 days in hospital — £9 650 Implant - £3000 - £5 500 Surgeon’s fee — £5 300 Estimated total: ~£18 270 - £20 770
Is joint replacement always necessary? No. It’s usually considered only when other treatments - like medication, physiotherapy, or injections - no longer help, and joint pain or stiffness seriously affects daily life.Surgery isn’t about doing “what’s next,” but about making life livable again - with movement, rest, and independence.
I’m over 70 - am I too old for this? Not at all. Age alone doesn’t disqualify you. If your health is stable and your heart and lungs are strong enough, many people in their 70s or 80s undergo surgery with excellent results.
Can I replace both joints in one surgery? Yes - in many cases, both knees or both hips can be replaced during the same procedure. It depends on your overall health and the surgeon’s recommendation, but the benefits include a single anesthesia, a single rehab, and a faster return to daily life.
Will the new joint feel like my natural one? It won’t be completely “invisible” - it’s still a prosthetic - but for most people, the pain relief and mobility are life-changing. You may feel minor stiffness or sensitivity at times, but walking, climbing stairs, cycling, and even light sport become possible again.
Can pain continue after joint replacement? In some cases, yes. Around 10–20% of patients report some lingering pain - often from unrelated issues like back problems, nerve sensitivity, or soft tissue inflammation. We help set clear expectations and support you in addressing anything that doesn’t feel right.
What’s the success rate? Very high. Hip replacements have a success rate of around 95%, and knee replacements 90–95%. That means reduced pain, better function, and restored quality of life - often for decades.
Do I need to bring my previous scans or medical records? It helps, but it’s not required. If you have recent X-rays, MRIs, or lab results — bring them or send them in advance. But don’t worry — we’ll run all key diagnostics here before surgery.
Can I choose my surgeon? Yes — and that choice matters. We work with Israel’s top joint replacement surgeons: department heads, international trainers, and technique innovators. You get full profiles with experience, methods, training, reviews, and recovery stories. Choose who you trust — or let us guide you based on your case.
Do I need general anesthesia? Not necessarily. Many patients undergo spinal anesthesia, which is often gentler and safer, especially for older adults. Your anesthesiologist will discuss the best option for your case before surgery.
What is the Mako™ robotic system and how does it improve joint replacement surgery? Mako™ is a robotic system that helps your surgeon plan and perform joint replacement with sub-millimeter precision. It uses a CT scan to create a 3D model of your joint, allowing the surgeon to plan the implant size, position, and alignment before entering the operating room. During surgery, Mako provides real-time guidance to follow that plan exactly. What does it mean for you as a patient?
More accurate implant placement
Less damage to healthy tissue
Reduced pain after surgery
Faster and smoother recovery
More natural joint movement
Lower risk of complications or revision
Mako is not used in every case - your surgeon will decide whether it’s the right tool for your specific anatomy and condition. More about Mako™ is available on the official website.
What is RISE at Assuta? RISE is Assuta’s internal center for surgical innovation. It brings together advanced technologies - like robotic assistance and 3D planning - to help surgeons operate with greater precision and achieve better, faster results. You won’t notice it during your stay - but it plays a big role in how quickly and safely you recover.
How long will I need to stay in Israel? Most patients stay about 7–10 days in total. You’ll arrive 2–3 days before surgery for pre-operative assessments. After surgery, you’re typically discharged from the hospital within 24 hours - and continue recovering nearby under light supervision. You’ll have follow-up appointments with your surgeon before flying home, and we help coordinate accommodations and every step of the schedule in advance.
Can you help with flights, hotel, or airport transfers? Yes. We coordinate your stay from arrival to departure — including hotel bookings, airport pickup, and your full medical schedule. You just focus on your recovery — we’ll handle the rest.
Will someone guide me after surgery? Yes. You’ll start walking within 24 hours in most cases - under supervision. Your recovery plan is explained clearly before discharge, and both your surgeon and Carepulse team stay in touch once you’re home.
Do I need to pay anything in advance? What if I change my mind? No upfront payments. You only pay after arriving and having an in-person consultation with the doctor. If you can’t come — just let us know. No fees, no penalties. If surgery is not recommended after the consultation, you only pay for the tests that were done. If the clinic cancels — we’ll offer a new date or an alternative. Simple as that: first, you decide. Then, you pay.
